Polished Concrete Floor Control Joints
PERFECT POLISH REPAIR PROCESS.
Polished concrete floor control joints. Find a local concrete contractor to help with your project. The depth of your concrete joints should be 25 of the depth of your slab. When used in conjunction with polished concrete joint filler is ground and polished smooth to provide a seamless floor that is not only protected but easier to clean keeping debris out of the cracks.
Aluminium strips are designed for tiles not concrete. Fill cracks and joints with flexible compound in case floor settles. This type of concrete joint filler can be used in new construction in control joints or in existing concrete floors where traffic is high and concrete joints need protection.
Construction Joints Placed on a slab when concluding concrete operations for the day. With our years of experience we have found this process works better. There are 2 types of joints that require attention.
Always cut off of your corners as soon as possible because this is usually the first place cracking starts. These can be saw cuts into the surface of the concrete or plastic crack inducers. Recut and fill existing joint.
Control joints are planned cracks which allow for movements caused by temperature changes and drying shrinkage. We recommend saw cuts which are then filled with cement products. In other words if the concrete does crack-you want to have an active role in deciding where it will crack and that it will crack in a straight line instead of randomly.
Expansion joints and control joints. The concrete is polished. Un-bonded concrete screeds should be a minimum thickness of 75mm.
